The Super Eagles were tipped as many people’s favourites for the tournament after an impressive showing in the group stage but they slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat Tunisia.
Also through to the quarter-finals are Burkina Faso, who beat 10-man Gabon on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Tournament debutants Gambia saw off Guinea in a match with plenty of late drama, holding on for a 1-0 victory.
Hosts Cameroon were given a scare by Comoros, but they booked their place in the last eight with a 2-1 win, while Senegal got past nine-man Cape Verde with a 2-0 victory.
Morocco are into the quarter-finals, with a 2-1 win over Malawi, and they will face with Ivory Coast or Egypt.
