Britney Spears conservatorship hearing today LIVE

BRITNEY Spears may finally be free of her controversial conservatorship today.

At a hearing in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on Friday, a judge will decide whether to terminate the conservatorship that has exercised vast control over the Britney Spears’ life and money for nearly 14 years.

With no significant opposition from anyone involved, it appears likely Judge Brenda Penny will dissolve the legal arrangement.

Britney Spears’ attorney, her parents, and the court appointees who control the conservatorship all publicly support termination.

Jodi Montgomery, the conservator who oversees the singer’s life and medical decisions, has developed a care plan with her therapists and doctors to guide her through the end of the conservatorship and its aftermath.

It is not clear whether Spears, 39, will take part in the hearing today.

Fans who have demanded the court #FreeBritney, whom she has credited with bringing her to this point, will be outside the courthouse in significant numbers.

  • WHEN WILL WE KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE COURTHOUSE?

Because streaming and electronic devices aren’t allowed in the courtroom, the public won’t know what’s going on in the hearing until it ends, or until a recess is held.

It’s unknown how long the hearing will last.

A break may also happen at some point during the hearing.

  • WHY DID JAMIE WANT A TERMINATION INSTEAD OF A SUSPENSION?

According to Rosengart, a termination would afford Jamie Spears protection from legal actions against him, including retribution for recording and monitoring Britney in conversations with her children, family and even attorney for several years.

“Jamie wants a termination instead of a suspension and orderly termination because it means he won’t have to turn over records as a fiduciary of the estate,” summarized Twitter user @BritneyLawArmy, who was allegedly in the courtroom in September and is there again today.

  • JAMIE’S SUSPENSION: WHAT IT MEANS

In September, Jamie Spears was removed from his daughter’s conservatorship.

In doing so, he was asked to hand in all books and records connected with the conservatorship.

A temporary conservator was appointed in Jamie’s place.

  • WHAT DID BRITNEY’S LAWYER SAY?

Britney Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart said previously: “My client does not want a settlement, mediation or anything else with Mr Spears.

“I speak all the time with my client, including today.

“Our termination plan is fair and logical. Our termination plan is fair and logical. My client has been abused by Mr. Spears — not just in the conservatorship but since her childhood.”

  • NO UPDATES FROM IN THE COURTROOM DURING HEARING, TWEETS SAY

In September, the account was able to gain access to the courtroom, and regularly provided others waiting outside with updates.

  • BRITNEY’S ‘PLEADING’ FOR JAMIE TO LEAVE HER ALONE

Rosengart also said during the last hearing on Britney’s case that her father, Jamie Spears, only had “experience” in “domestic violence orders placed against him by her children and ex-spouse.”

“You know what really makes my client upset. That her father, who does nothing, isn’t a business or talent manager- who is abusive and cruel and toxic- takes more money from her estate each month than he allows her to have.”

Britney’s attorney insisted that Jamie “cannot be in her life for another day.”

In September, Britney’s attorney Mathew S. Rosengart claimed he did not “have to prove immorality” and “criminal conduct” from Jamie, insisting that a New York Times article will reveal more information.

“The best interests of my client is that man be gone from her life today.

“Vivian’s low shots at my clients choice for conservator of estate brings her clients credentials at issue.”

“She has been emotional all week and was crying last night both happy tears and tears of joy. I think she doesn’t fully believe it’s coming to an end yet after so many years of pushing and fighting.

They added, “She keeps saying “I can’t believe it’s really happening” and I don’t think it will sink in until after the hearing.”

Britney said her silence over the years has mistakenly been interpreted as complicity, stating: “I’ve lied and told the whole world, ‘I’m okay, I’m happy.’ I’ve been in denial, I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized.

Additionally, Britney claimed nurses watch her every move and she’s not allowed to change her clothes in private.

She added her father was controlling and “enjoyed” the power over her.
