Just one new case of Covid-19 has been reported in Taranaki by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

There are now 33 active cases in the region.

Three locations of interest were reported after 5pm on Tuesday night, but the ministry has yet to announce any further sites on Wednesday.

Those people wanting to get vaccinations will be able to every day except Christmas Day, although not all over the region.

Life Pharmacy in New Plymouth’s Centre City will be one of the only places offering jabs from Boxing Day.

The region’s two vaccination hubs, in New Plymouth and Hāwera, will shut from December 25-28, and January 1-4, but reopen in between and after those dates.

The Pfizer vaccine enters your body, does its thing, and is then destroyed. It does not alter your DNA.

For more information on locations and opening times can be found at on the TDHB website’s vaccine section.

The last day of vaccinating for Māori health care provider Tui Ora will be Friday, at Maratahu St.

Taranaki is edging closer towards the goal of having 90 per cent of the eligible population fully vaccinated, with 88 per cent double-dosed so far.

The region’s Pasifika community hit the milestone at the weekend, while the eligible Māori population is at 76 per cent.

At the current rate of vaccination, the region will hit the mark on December 31.
