The shocking incident of alleged abduction and gang-rape of a 19-year-old girl on Monday turned out to be hoax! Police said.
The Nagpur police has revealed that a gang-rape case it was investigating has turned out to be fake. A case on this matter was filed based on a complaint by the teen girl.
In the time of investigation, the city police also discovered that the girl registered a false complaint of abduction and gang-rape because she wanted to marry her boyfriend.
The teen girl’s family members had objected to her decision to marry her boyfriend. The girl thought that if she alleged that she was abducted and gang-raped, her family would agree to her choice of the man she wanted to marry.
In her statement to the police, the girl had claimed that she was on her way to music classes when she was abducted and taken away in a vehicle by miscreants. The complainant had further claimed that the miscreants gang-raped her before leaving her at a spot which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kalamna police station.
Alarmed by the severity of her complaint, the Nagpur Police lodged an FIR, looked into as many as 100 CCTV cameras and deployed at least 1,000 police personnel to trace the accused.
However, six hours into the probe, the police came across evidence that led them to believe that the complainant’s version of the incident could have been made up.
Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar told India Today, that the girl travelled to the Birdy Main Road in Nagpur around 9 am by bus. She then roamed around the area for some time before walking up to a police station where she registered a complaint alleging abduction and gang-rape.
A medical report of the girl established that there was no sexual assault, the senior police official added.
