The source said the government has not finalized costing for the two projects but it’s expected that they will generate a combined $420 million in GDP.

The construction of the Bradford Bypass is projected to create 700 jobs per year and would save commuters 35 minutes in travel time once completed, the government source said.

Hwy. 413 would produce 3,500 jobs annually over almost a decade, and slash 30 minutes in driving time, the source said.

Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy will release the 2021 Ontario Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review on Thursday.

Both highway projects have drawn strong criticism from environmentalists and political opponents to the Doug Ford government, which has touted transportation construction as an important measure in the province’s economic well-being.
