Newslatestworld.com – The world’s largest test of a four-day work week in the UK has found something new.
Most 61 companies taking part will continue to work shorter hours from June to December.
Most workers feel less stressed and have a better balance between work and life.
Arab News says that most companies’ sales stayed the same during last year’s pilot period.
According to new research that came out this week, some even grew in the last six months compared to the same time last year.
David Frayne, a research associate at the University of Cambridge, said, “We are very encouraged by the results, which show the many ways companies are turning the four-day week from a dream into a real policy with many benefits.”
As a test, the team interviewed some employees.
He said, “We think there’s a lot here that should make other businesses and industries want to try it.”
Researchers from Autonomous Boston College, a group that studies the future of work, worked closely with the team from the university.
They wanted to see how 2,900 workers at companies in fields like marketing, finance, and nonprofits reacted when their hours were cut, but their pay stayed the same.
Unsurprisingly, employees said they benefited, with 71 percent less burnout, 39 percent less stress, and 48 percent more job satisfaction than before the trial.
60 percent of the workers said it was easier to balance their work and home lives, and 73 percent said they were happier with their lives.
The results showed that people felt less tired, slept more, and had better mental health.
